Ohio Chautauqua in Worthington
Wednesday, June 18 - Sunday, June 22, 2003
Ohio Chautauqua is a traveling tent show that presents history in the compelling form of first person historical characterizations. Over a series of five days, historic figures from the Ohio Frontier were brought to life. Ohio Chautauqua in Worthington featured exciting living history presentations that explored the visions of pioneers who helped open the Ohio wilderness. Trained scholar/actors in costume portrayed Johnny Appleseed, Margaret Blennerhassett, Mary Draper Ingles, Simon Kenton and Chief John Logan beneath an old-fashioned Chautauqua tent. In addition, each character made special public appearances and presented behind-the-scenes programs for children and adults. Family picnics and musical entertainment opened each evening's entertainment. Every Ohio Chautauqua event was FREE! All evening character presentations were signed by American Sign Language Interpreters.
Ohio Chautauqua in Worthington took place under the big red and white tent on the lawn of Thomas Worthington High School, 300 W. Dublin-Granville Road. TWHS is located just east of State Route 315 on Dublin-Granville Road (St. Rt. 161.) Ample parking is available in the lot located east of the stadium, between the stadium and high school.
