Not only is the religious landscape of America rapidly changing, but we have become one of the most multi-religious countries in the world! What is really new is the proximity of different religious traditions in the numerous cities and towns where one can find churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and gurdawaras. Ohio is no exception. What are the critical issues that we need to address in civil society and in religious communities? |
What are the particular challenges faced by the dominant community? Find out at the Village Talks… Religion, as Paul Knitter leads the discussion titled Death Or Dialogue: Living In A Multi-Religious Neighborhood And World.
Paul F. Knitter is Professor of Theology at Xavier University and general editor of Orbis Books’ series on interreligious dialogue, “Faith Meets Faith.” He is author of twenty books and numerous articles. Among his publications are One Earth, Many Religions; Multifaith Dialogue and Global Responsibility; and Subverting Greed: Religious Perspectives on the Global Economy (co-edited with Chandra Muzaffar).
Presiding for the evening: Dr. Ahmad D. Al-Akhras, president, Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He is a well-known speaker across the country and serves on the City of Columbus Community Relations Council. He holds a doctorate in engineering from The Ohio State University and is Assistant Director of Transportation for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.
