Recognized Bicentennial Events
The Bicentennial Steering Committee is encouraging organizations to seek status as a "Recognized Bicentennial Event." All recognized events are listed on the Master Bicentennial Calendar.
Purpose: To encourage and support community groups and organizations to design, plan and carry out new or existing projects and activities which complement the city’s Bicentennial Celebration.
Definition: A recognized bicentennial activity is an existing or specially planned activity, undertaken by a community group, neighborhood or organization. Such an activity:

reflects the values of the Worthington Bicentennial Celebration (such as inclusiveness, diversity, meaningful, fun, accessible, legacy, heritage);
- fosters the spirit of celebration in one or more of the following areas: religion, education, arts, history, nature government, people, business;
- incorporates historic, contemporary and/or future elements;
- falls between October 19, 2002 and October 26, 2003.
Benefits: Recognized activities are Included on the Bicentennial Calendar, bicentennial website, and in promotional materials as appropriate.
Approval: Applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Steering Committee and a recommendation for action brought to the Steering Committee. The Bicentennial Steering Committee has final approval on the application. Plans for fund-raising and/or in-kind contributions to support the project or activity must also be approved by the Steering Committee before being undertaken.
