Sister-City Visitors
Worthington Welcomes Sister-City Mayoral Delegation
for Founders Weekend 2003
The City of Worthington is honored to welcome the Mayor of sister-city Sayama, Japan to Worthington for the Bicentennial Founders Weekend activities. Mayor Yukinari Nakagawa is head of the five-person delegation, which are special guests of the City of Worthington. Mayor Nakagawa was elected in July by the people of Sayama City. Although, this is his first visit to Worthington, he did meet a team of enthusiastic Worthington ambassadors who visited Sayama earlier this month as delegates from Worthington.
Mayor Nakagawa's delegation to the City of Worthington includes Yoshiyasu Okutomi, Chairman of the Sayama City Council, Kenji Noguchi, President of the Sayama International Friendship Association and two staff members.
The City and the Worthington International Friendship Association work together to deepen international understanding and friendships through the sister-city relationship with the City of Sayama and the Sayama International Friendship Association. The two Cities have enjoyed a number of exchanges over the years involving youth sports teams, citizens and City officials. In 2004, the City of Worthington is expected to send a delegation to Sayama as that city celebrates its 50th anniversary.
