What is the current status of the project?

A public meeting was held on June 30, 2010 to inform and gather information from property owners and businesses in or near the Wilson Bridge Rd. corridor.  An overview of the project was given, preliminary results from the market study were discussed, and information was gathered from those in attendance (meeting presentation, meeting summary).  Additional information was gathered in a walk of the corridor on July 17, 2010.  The next step in the process is creating a vision for the corridor.  The Steering Committee and other stakeholders in the project will be involved in a charette to accomplish that task.  The charette ideas were shared with the general public at a meeting on August 4, 2010 (meeting information below).

Why is this project being considered?

The goal is to put together a vision for East and West Wilson Bridge Road to ensure the future viability of the entire corridor.  The plan for the corridor was originally focused on the south side of East Wilson Bridge Road. Early on in the process it became clear the plan needed to include both East and West Wilson Bridge Road. The project was put on hold to redefine the scope of the project which now includes both East and West Wilson Bridge Road, extending from the Olentangy River Parklands to the Community Center.  back

What process will be followed to complete the plan?

The former East Wilson Bridge Rd. Steering Committee has been expanded to include representatives from West Wilson Bridge Road and additional commercial property representatives from East Wilson Bridge Rd.

Information from the west side of the road will be added to the previously gathered information from the east side of the road.  In addition to gathering new geographic and property information, a public meeting was held and a walk of the corridor was conducted.  The market study was expanded based on the new scope.

The first stage of the plan is focused on developing the vision, goals and objectives, and design concepts for the corridor. The second stage of the plan will be to develop specific design standards to guide future developmentback

Who is on the Steering Committee?

The Steering Committee is made up residents and property owners of the study and adjacent areas; members of Worthington City Council; the Community Improvement Corporation; the Municipal Planning Commission; City staff; and the Bird Houk Collaborative consulting team.  back
