Household Hazardous Waste

The City of Worthington does not collect Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) during weekly trash collection, since the wastes are dangerous to people, animals and the environment. Do not drop off HHW or any medical waste at Worthington locations including the Fire Department or Service & Engineering Department. Medical waste includes "sharps" or hypodermic needles, medical devices and equipment. We are unable to accept any of these items. Find drop-off locations for sharps here.

Collection and drop-off locations

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) offers free HHW collection drives several times a year at different locations throughout central Ohio. A full schedule is available on the SWACO website.

Any resident of Franklin County can drop off wastes at the permanent HHW Center on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm, and Thursdays, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The center is located at 645 E. 8th Ave. Columbus, OH 43201.
