OPENING SPRING 2023

Built in October 1923 by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, this I-1A style caboose housed the train crew that monitored the end of the train. It was retired in March 1967 and purchased by the Rutherford family the same year then moved to their backyard in Upper Arlington where it became a community landmark.

The Rutherford family donated the caboose in 2018 to the City of Worthington and it has since been fully restored and will be open to the public at McCord Park soon. It serves as a reminder of how important railroads were to our community's growth—and makes for a great place to watch trains go by!
