Find more information including course maps and event times.
The INDEPENDENCE Triathlon & Duathlon will begin at 7:00 a.m. for the Adult Triathlon & Duathlon and 10:00am for the Kids Triathlon & Duathlon. The 10 mile bike portion of the adult race will follow a route that starts and ends at Worthington Pools, located at 400 W Dublin-Granville Rd, and includes Olentangy River Road, Wilson Bridge Road, High Street, Stafford Avenue, and Evening Street. Some lane restrictions will be in place during the bike portion. After the bike portion of the race, participants will do an out and back 5k run on the Olentangy Trail. The kids courses are all contained within the Worthington High School and adjacent properties. The INDEPENDENCE Triathlon & Duathlon is limited to the first 400 adults and 250 kids.
Residents living within Worthington’s northwest neighborhoods may experience delays, if trying to drive across the course boundary during the bike race. Suggested exit routes include: Larrimer Ave. and North Street to the east or Rieber St. to the north. Police officers and course marshals will be at all intersections and will direct traffic across the race path once they determine the course is clear. In addition parking restrictions will be in place on W. Stafford Avenue and Evening Street. W. Stafford and Evening, between Stafford and Dublin Granville Road, will be closed the morning of the race between 7:00 and 9:30 a.m. Traffic will be detoured around all race areas from 7:00am to 9:30am. We anticipate that all roads will reopen by 9:30am. However, please note that police agencies working the event will determine when it is safe to re-open the roads for traffic. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to create a safe environment for athletes and residents.
All race Participants will receive an Official INDEPENDENCE Triathlon & Duathlon-themed Technical Race Shirt and all finishers will receive an Official INDEPENDENCE Triathlon & Duathlon-themed Finisher’s Medal. After the race participants will be treated to a post-race party with goodies provided by participating sponsors.
