The Worthington City Council has prioritized finding new and innovative ways to include more people in the budgeting process, especially those who are not able to attend the city’s budget hearings. This tool allows people to participate at their own pace, on their own schedule, in conjunction with the city’s traditional budget process.
Submissions into Balancing Act are compiled by the Finance Department and will be shared with the City Council, and department and city management, to help guide the budgeting process.
You can view videos, documents and other resources that explain the budget and process here on the Budget page of the City’s website.
You can submit any feedback via email to council@worthington.org.
The Wi-Fi network can be accessed along the High Street corridor in the Old Worthington Downtown Business District. This area runs from South Street north along High Street to North Street. It can also be accessed in the Worthington Municipal Building, the Griswold Center, and the Worthington Community Center.
You will need a device that is capable of Wi-Fi access. Nearly all modern laptops, smartphones, and tablets have Wi-Fi. When you are in the service area, your device will detect the "Worthington Public" network. Choose and accept this connection. Caution should always be taken while using any public Wi-Fi network. Enabled and updated security software such as firewall, VPN, and malware detection software is recommended.
If you can’t see the “Worthington Public” network, you’re not in an area with service. If you’re connected but are unable to access the internet, your device may not have been directed to our Terms of Use page. Try visiting an http (non-encrypted https) site such as http://www.neverssl.com/ to trigger the Terms of Use pop-up page. You should be able to continue to the internet after accepting the Terms of Use.
Collection of garbage, recyclables and yard waste occurs every Friday unless otherwise noted due to a major holiday (see the schedule). Please note that all solid waste must be at the curb by 6AM to ensure collection. Solid waste placed at the curb later than 6AM may not be collected.
Recycling bins are provided directly by Local Waste Services. 65 gallon wheeled carts are provided for recycling free of charge. If you do not have one at your residence, call the Service & Engineering Department at 614-431-2425 to schedule delivery.
Typically, solid waste left at the curb by the drivers did not meet the criteria for collection. Restrictions on size, weight and proper containers must be observed to ensure collection. Items not packaged correctly will not be collected. Items not packaged neatly, bags or cans over 50 lbs, liquids, boxes filled with trash and items set out after 6am may not be collected.
Latex paint cannot be placed out for trash collection if it's still wet. In order to dispose of it, remove the lid and stir in sand, kitty litter or a paint hardener available at most hardware stores. Once the paint is COMPLETELY DRY AND HARDENED you can place the cans in out for regular trash collection. Make sure to leave the lids off.
Fluorescent bulbs, both tube and compact, contain harmful materials and are considered hazardous waste. To dispose of them properly, take them to any Home Depot store for free drop off. The bulbs will be recycled in an environmentally responsible manner.
